The cost of organizing is based on a lot of factors – the size of the space, how much organizing is needed, and how many team members are required to get the job done. Every home and situation is different, so there's no one-size-fits-all answer.

It really depends on a few things – the size of your space, the amount of stuff we're working with, and the pace you're able to maintain when going through your things. Some people can make decisions quickly, others need more time, and that's totally okay.

We'll guide you through the process to make it as efficient as possible. A single closet might take just a few hours, while a whole home could take multiple sessions. When we talk, I'll give you a realistic estimate based on your specific situation.

It's so important for you to be there! You're the one who gets to decide what to keep and what to give away – we don't make those decisions for you. We're just there to guide you through the process.

Organizing is also a tactile experience. It really helps to see and feel your things when you're making decisions about them. Being present makes the whole process more meaningful and the results stick better.

My approach is pretty simple – you purge, you purge, you purge! But rather than take everything out and slam it on the floor, we like to go through things one by one. That way you get the chance to really decide whether or not you want to keep each item as we go.

This actually saves time because we're not throwing everything on the bed, then organizing it, then putting it back. We work through things methodically so it's not overwhelming.

Our goal is for you to be happy at the end, surrounded by the things that really make you happy.

No! These are your things and it's not my decision to tell you what to keep. Some things are super important to you that I might not think are important for me – and that's okay.

You're going to make all the decisions about what stays and what goes. My job is to guide you through the process.

Now, I don't know how I obtained this skill, but I can encourage you to get rid of at least 30% more than you thought was possible. And that 30% is a scientific fact. At least I think it is – my dog Dave is the one who put the study together, but he's very smart so we're going with 30%.

That means more space to organize in. And you're going to feel great about it.

Organizing your things is a very personal and physical experience. I can really connect with someone when we're one-on-one, and I like to be there as a motivator. It's hard to motivate through a computer screen or a phone.

So I always insist on being on-site while we go through the organizing process.

Yes, we do digital organizing! Just like having a disorganized house, your digital files need an easy-to-access system tailored specifically to what you need.

Most consultations actually happen over the phone, which I really like. There's no chance of distraction, and I can really get a sense of how you're feeling. People tend to be a lot more honest over the phone.

If we do an in-home consultation, I can observe you in your space – which tells me a lot about where we should start and how you're feeling in your environment. That gives me clarity and options for how to get you to your goals.

Regardless of how we do it, we'll go over your space, discuss your goals, and come up with a plan that works for you.

You just live your life and it'll all come together for you! It's very easy to maintain the way we organize because we work with your individual process – your unique way of doing things.

For instance, if you like your toothpaste on the bathroom counter, we're going to find a way to keep the toothpaste on the counter but make it look organized. You're not making big changes right off the bat that are difficult to maintain.

We want it to be as smooth and easy as possible. And to do that, we need a lot of your input – then we can go from there.

About Me

I founded Free Your Space Professional Organizing in 2015 after discovering my passion for helping others create calm, functional spaces. (Turns out you can make a career out of being the friend who reorganizes your pantry while you're in the bathroom.)

Before becoming a professional organizer, I spent years as a standup comedian—which explains a lot, actually—and worked as an executive assistant for some of the top retail brands in the country. It was in those corporate offices where I discovered something unexpected: I genuinely loved getting spaces organized. Like, way more than a normal person should. The comedy background stuck with me though—I still believe that decluttering your life shouldn't feel like a chore, and that a well-timed joke makes parting with that broken blender a little easier.

What draws me to this work goes beyond my love of creating order out of chaos. I genuinely care about the people I work with, taking a real personal interest in each client's wellbeing—not just their closets. For me, organizing isn't just about the stuff; it's about making sure you feel good through the process. I'm basically part organizer, part life coach, part cheerleader.

My approach is refreshingly practical: function over form, every time. I focus on finding systems and solutions that actually work for how you live—not Instagram-perfect setups that fall apart in a week. And I'll never force you to get rid of anything. I coach my clients through decisions at their own pace, keeping things light and maybe even fun along the way. Yes, fun. It's possible. I've seen it happen.

When I'm not transforming cluttered spaces into organized havens, I enjoy spending time with my family and our dog Dave (when he's not snoring) in the San Fernando Valley—and yes, bringing donuts to job sites. (The donuts are non-negotiable.)

MICHELLE: I don't think it's weird or strange that people end up becoming disorganized. We have a lot going on in our lives and sometimes our priorities change and being organized kind of goes to the side. I'm Michelle Garb, owner of Free Your Space Professional Organizing, and I'm also the lead organizer.

MICHELLE: You are buying way too much stuff and you're feeling worse and worse by the day because you just feel like you're drowning under the clutter and you don't know how to do it. You don't know how to get to the surface of the water again.

[SCENE: ALONI, A CLIENT ON CAM INTERVIEW]

ALONI: I was a professional hoarder. I shopped for a living every single weekend faithfully. I caught every sale. I had every coupon and I just bought a bunch of stuff I didn't need and didn't know where to put it. I need to let go again of a little bit of stuff. I'm Aloni and I am a wonderful client of Michelle's.

I was always humiliated. I was always ashamed of my house, of my closet, of my bedroom, the living room that you can't walk through. So I guess I've gone through depression being, you know, being a hoarder. Like with anything in your life, if you've got a problem and you don't deal with it, it's not going to go away. And when it comes to disorganization, it's even more difficult because the problem is visual.

Not being able to be proud of your place, you know, or not wanting anyone to come over and see. My excuse always was, oh, sorry, I didn't clean up. I never clean up. Even no matter how many maids you hire, maids are not the answer because they're just straightening up. They're just moving things from left to right.

[SCENE: MICHELLE ARRIVES AT ALONI'S NEW APARTMENT FOR THE FIRST TIME]

ALONI: Hi, Michelle.

MICHELLE: Hi.

ALONI: So great to see you.

MICHELLE: Oh, my God. Hello.

[SCENE: ALONI ON-CAM INTERVIEW]

ALONI: I got tired of living like this and I admire everyone else's spaces. When I go to their house, it's like, how can they be so organized or just simple? I just want a simple life. So I finally broke down and called Michelle and expressed to her everything that I was going through.

The minute you call, there will be a sense of relief because you've taken the steps to get started. You've realized where you need help and you're doing something about it. It might not be organizing everything, but you've reached out to someone and that's the biggest thing you could do.

Right. And if you get these closed into the closet, then you'll have all that space up there.

There was a big sense of relief when I finally talked to Michelle because I realized that I was getting help. And I realized that she was actually helpful and she wasn't judgmental. So being vulnerable is like the hardest thing. But knowing that we were going to come up with a resolution, we were going to come up with a method to change. And she actually helped me understand my mindset too, which is priceless.

[SCENE: MICHELLE AND DALLAS CONTINUE ORGANIZING A GARAGE]

DALLAS: What does she want us to do with all of this? Coming into a space and being able to organize that gives you that sense of freedom.

[SCENE: DALLAS, AN EMPLOYEE ON-CAM INTERVIEW]

DALLAS: My name is Dallas Isbell. I'm a assistant organizer at Free Your Space. Yeah. I mean, if she doesn't decorate anymore, then we could probably move most of that stuff out. Through the process, there's just a lot of fun, you know, working with the clients and working with Michelle. There's a lot of enjoyment in the job. There's a lot of excitement in just the day to day and figuring out what they want to keep and what they want to get away with. These can go here. This is still tape. I can see the weight lift off their shoulders. I can see them relax into the, you know, the groove of what we're doing. And it's a sense of fulfillment.

ALONI: It's really come together and you've always had a sense of style, but now you can.

MICHELLE: Well, thank you.

MICHELLE: Yeah, but you can see it now because there's nothing.

ALONI: Yeah, in the way.

MICHELLE: Yeah.

ALONI: The clutter is gone.

MICHELLE: It is.

ALONI: I've let go.

MICHELLE: It really, it's beautiful.

MICHELLE: When we're done organizing with a client, the most important thing that we realize is how happy they are again. How relaxed, how eager they are, how much more energy they have to keep going, whether it's more organizing or some goal in their life or some dream that they've had. And they realize these things. They're so much more energetic.

[SCENE: ALONI ON-CAM]

ALONI: I want to tell Michelle, thank you. Thank you for changing my life. Seriously. From the bottom of my heart. You've been a teacher to me. You've been a mother figure. You're not that old though, more of like a girlfriend, young auntie, young auntie Michelle. But if I could just say thank you. And I could just say, keep doing what you're doing. You're changing people's lives. Even they may not, you know, they might be nervous and don't want to say it, but it is life changing what you're doing. Organizing is a big resolution in life. Michelle, life is good.

ALONI: We talk about it in the Bible, getting your house in order and then get your physical in order. So like it's mind, body, spirit, soul, like everything's connected. So it's like the organizing really is a start to the change of your life.

MICHELLE: The amount of joy that the client has at the end when everything's in its right place, it's organized well, it's easy to access. The sense of calm that it gives them based on where we start at is just, it's amazing to watch. Once you get organized, not only are your things in a better place, you're in a better place. So it's kind of like you go from this scattered place to being whole again. And that's our whole goal is to give you that and to have you do that for yourself.
